Complete Syllabus

1. General Intelligence & Reasoning

Analogies, Similarities and differences, Space visualization, Spatial orientation, Problem solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision making, Visual memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship concepts, Arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, Arithmetic number series, Non-verbal series, Coding and decoding.

2. General Awareness

Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him/her and its application to society. Topics include History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy, and Scientific Research.

3. Quantitative Aptitude

Computation of whole numbers, Decimals, Fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities, Geometry.

4. English Comprehension

Candidates' ability to understand correct English, his/her basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. (Spotting Errors, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms/Antonyms, Spelling/Detecting mis-spelt words, Idioms & Phrases).

Exam Pattern

The DDA selection process generally involves a Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by a Skill Test (Typing/Stenography) wherever applicable.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
  • Junior Engineer (Civil/Electrical): Diploma or Degree in Civil/Electrical Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Assistant Section Officer (ASO): Bachelor’s Degree (Graduate) in any stream + Computer Proficiency.
  • MTS (Multi Tasking Staff): 10th Pass (Matriculation) or ITI from a recognized board.
  • Patwari: Graduate in any stream.
  • Stenographer Grade D: 12th Pass + Shorthand skill.
Age Limit
  • JE / ASO: 18 to 27 Years (Relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as per rules).
  • MTS: 18 to 25 Years.
  • Patwari: 21 to 27 Years.
